rome, on the hange

After an arduous flight from the Melbournes all the way to Norway, I am finally home.
It was a good 10 months in Australia and Deakin Uni. All the people I met, all the things I learned and all the microwavable rice I ate.
Now that me and my roomates are in fact, no longer roomates, I can finally say: Øyvind, sorry about what I did to your toothbrush. I tought you were gonna throw it out anyway.

Anyway, moving along.
The flight! Yes, what a flight it was.7 hours from Melbourne to Singapore, then another 14 hours from there to London. The whole time I regretted my decision to wear a suit while travelling.

As usual, the Singapore Airlines stewardesses were deliciously delightful. That airline probably has the best service I’ve had on plane, but when you think about it they sort of have to when you’re flying for 14 hours. I applaud them for pulling it off though, I can only imagine how many assgrabs and lustfull gazes they get in one flight. Maybe they’re hypnotised before every flight. Or just robots. If they are robots, I would very much like to order one. (If a manufacturer is reading this, please contact me ASAP)

There are a few things though, that I’ve never been able to handle on planes. One of them is sleeping, and the other is taking a dump on plane toilets. But that’s a completely different story.

The closest thing to sleep I could get was a half-daze shrouded in a sort of suspended limbo between extreme bodily discomfort and great irritation from other passengers. Truly, it’s a dreadful experience.

Being home again is weird, to say the least. I was at the store today and hearing Norwegian everywhere almost made me miss Australian English. I used to hate Australian English, it sounds like they’re always excited and struggling to speak. I don’t know man, I’m not a linguist.
I was gonna ask a guy at the store where they had DVD racks, and in that short sentence I almost broke to English five or so times. I’m considering to just continue speaking English, why not ? It’s fun. And it’ll make me seem more interesting. Especially if I throw some accent in there, maybe Chinese. How often do you see a halfrican speaking English with a Chinese accent ?
See, I got an interesting story right there.

So, back to DVDs.  I’ve been organising my films all day. I still need to buy some new racks, cause I don’t have enough. Honestly I think I have too many movies. Along with my TV and consoles/stereo they’re occupying my whole wall. And it’s not a small wall, I don’t live in a closet.
See, I had packed down all my movies before I left so people wouldn’t go into my room and steal borrow them. Therefore, I had to unpack them when I got home and organise them all over again, along with the new movies I bought in Australia, which was 50 or so.
What annoys me is that I still can’t find my copy of Kung Fu Hustle. It needs to be right there next to Shaolin Soccer, you can’t just have on of them! The other one will get lonely.
One thing I will greatly miss about The Australias, is JB-HIFI. With their low low prices on movies and whatnot. They’re more expensive here, and that makes me sad.
Oh, and I will also miss my friends. I reckon. Lovely people. The peacock house who hauled away all our extra crap, good people. If they only knew of the atrocious things I have done in that chair. If it could speak, I’m sure it would just scream in horror. Sort of shell shocked, in perpetual post traumatic stress.

Anyway, thanks for reading.
I would like to end this post in a contest, whoever can guess when this photo was taken will win a SPECIAL PRIZE (it’s not a drawing of a phallus*)

birthday karma

Yesterday was my birthday, my 22nd birthday.

I guess double-digits are somewhat of a milestone, I remember my 11th birthday vaguely. I think I got Lego’s.

At 33 I sure as hell won’t remember my 22nd because it was probably the most eventless birthday ever.

But, it was still great. Because a wondrous thing happened.

See, I decided to spend the day at school. Working on one of my last assignments for the semester. It seemed like a good idea at the time, don’t ask why.

Before I buckled down for a day of research and typing I decided of course to get some breakfast, I went to the internet café on campus and looked at the chicken baguettes. So the guy behind the counter looks at me and says “Would you like a baguette sir ?” So I said yes, I did in fact want a baguette.

He continued:

-”Chicken ?”.

-”Yes, chicken”, I replied.

- “Crispy?”

-”Sure”

-”Toasted?”

I started wondering what the hell this guy was doing, was it that obvious that I wanted a crispy roasted chicken baguette ?

I told him yes, toasted sounds good. I didn’t care anymore, I wanted to get out. I was afraid soon he would reveal a horrible secret in this string of wild but accurate guesses.

I jested nervously, like one would do; “Is it free too ?”

He looked at his co-worker and said.. “I don’t know ? Is it ?”

It turned out the whole damn place was in a good mood, and I walked out with a free baguette and chocolate muffin.

‘Twas a good day.

A little something on compulsive hoarding

I am really really bad at getting rid of things. Some people are just like that, I cant throw stuff out.
I always think I’ll have some use for it in the future.
I’ve been cleaning out my room the past few days, packing some stuff. I honestly think half of my room’s space is taken up by junk.

Did I really say junk? No, what I really meant was… Treasure.

My greatest treasure is probably my old schoolstuff. I have kept most of my notes, tests and pretty much anything else I was ever graded on.

Neatly collected in a series of binders. These ones ranging from the 8th to 13th grade. There is more, chucked away in my closet in huge bags. I really need to organize these.  It was fun, almost eerie to see stuff I had written years ago, so many tests failed.. so many aced.

Digging deeper into the cluttered abyss I found stuff like comic books, old games and systems.  It’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Other things I found were:
-And old collection of dice
-Pogs
-Pokemon cards
-And old sample bag of coffee (which I’ve kept for some reason, and I don’t intend to throw away)
-All my report cards
-Every issue of Norw. PlayStation Magazine. (and most of the PS2 magazines)
-Lots of pc peripherals (most of them not working)

The list goes on and on into the obscure, will it ever end?
In other, not so related, news. I got me some new sneakers today.
And I made some fanart to celebrate.

Free at last

Good lord, for the past months i’ve been working on my final project for school. It’s a short animation about a witchdoctor and an unruly zombie. Long story short; it was exhausting.
Today is delivery day and i finished two days ago.

And you know what this means, summer vacation! Woo!

It’s not gonna be much of a vacation coz i need to get a job. . . Good luck with all that.

Anyway, happy trails

i’ve been sick

For the past week (well since last thursday anyway) i’ve been sick. Not very sick, but definitely incapacitated. I been coughing what feels like sand (invisible sand?) and i’ve adopted this weird affliction that turns me woozy every time i turn my head around. Also my eyeballs hurt when i move them.

So i’ve basically been sitting at home watching movies. The best ones being. . .

  • Léon
  • Last Life In The Universe
  • Romper Stomper

I wanted to do a whole… Luc Besson mini-marathon, watching Léon, Angel-A and The Fifth Element but.. to be honest Angel-A is that kind of movie you only watch once, and i’ve seen The Fifth Element atleast 50 times. So it started and stopped at Léon. Which is okay because it’s only the best.movie.evar. If you like Luc Besson i recommend it, since it’s probably one of his best movies. It makes me so sad he’s also responsible for the atrocious Transporter movies.

In other news, while i was looking through a box of old cd’s and dvd’s i came across something delightful. A dvd containing my old schoolwork from years ago. It was marvelous to find such a treasure holding old work which i thought had been lost long ago when my old PC crashed and burned.

Among the riches was an old assignment where i added all new sound to a scene from Robocop. I remember my teacher said i did real good.

Behold! In all it’s YouTubish glory . . .

Fueled by schoolastic boredom

I don’t like doing just one thing at a time.. as i’m writing this i’m watching Montel on TV, as well as listening to music.

So during todays lecture at school i made a flower.

I made it using a kind of.. eraser, that’s made of rubber and you can mold it. I don’t know why anyone would want to use it as an eraser. It’s too soft, get’s dirty and it doesnt even work that well.

Anyway, here it is

I don’t usually do such, so if it doesn’t look anything like a flower you know why.

Curse you technology!

My iPod touch is on the fritz. I knew i shouldn’t have updated the software, it’s never a good idea.

I connected it to my PC at school (so i can listen to my music) and it requested and update. I didn’t even need it, i guess i was greedy.

So during the update its all like “error! error! durr” and says i have to restore the iPod (which basically means resetting, aka deleting all my music/movies etc) as if this wasn’t annoying enough already the iPod wont restore itself! it goes into retard mode and refuses, so i go to the apple store (its a long walk) and ask them to work their magic. Apparently they’re shitty magicians cause all they could say was “we cant fix it” THANK YOU APPLE STORE. Only advice they could give me was to call Apple support.. oh how i hate talking on the phone.

But here’s the kicker, after i came back to school from the Apple store i tried connecting it to the PC again.

And it works

Isn’t it funny how technology sometimes fixes itself?

In other news

I managed to fall asleep on the bus today, ending up at the bus parking lot.

That’s what happens when a certain busbuddy of mine isn’t there to wake me up.

Well at least the bus driver woke me up, coincidentally he’s my old gym teacher. So he wasn’t surprised to see me sleeping lazily. . .

On my way to school a random guy asked me if i habla español. I guess i look spanish.

This is all school related, let’s get it out of the way

I’m not saying school isn’t important. But the very fact this it is school just makes it less interesting don’t you think?

Anyway, i finished my Digital Acting assignment (finally). The deadline has been hanging over me since a few weeks before christmas so i feel like i’ve lost 10kgs of stress.

Anyway, here it is. Embedded from YouTube in all its glory

The audio clip is from the movie Pure Luck, starring Martin Short and Danny Glover

In other (still school related news) i got an A on my exam.
That’s right folks, i’m a genius.

Student Loans

Well, as the new semester starts the new school bill arrives. But lets discuss, indeed lets discuss the payment of the bill, and how a poor unemployed (but still handsome/single) student is supposed to pay this hefty bill.

Of course we apply for a loan. No problem right?

But see. Here’s the thing. I need X amount of money to pay the bill, but the trusty (?) old Loanbox won’t give me all the money i need, in fact they will only give me about 3/4 of it. So the last bit (which is alot) i have to get by myself.

Let’s sum up the facts to far.

  1. I am poor
  2. I need money
  3. I rely on the Loanbox for that
  4. I am single

Now, since i am applying for a loan in the first place proves that I NEED MONEY, if i HAD MONEY i would not apply. Then why oh why do they expect me to have…money?

It doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe i screwed up my application and checked the box that said “I wish to be pissed off”.

Like a classmate said.. It’s not like they’re holding on to some of the money ’cause they cant “afford” to give it all to me at once, i know they can!

I’m not freaking out yet though. I mean.. why would i freak out? It’s not like the bill is going anywhere <3

New Busroutes?

So, today was my first day back to school after the xmas vacation.

After a 2 week (or something) break it takes a few days to get used to.. the usual rhythm.

I walked down to the bus early in the morning as usual and got there at my usual time, with about 6 minutes to spare ’til my bus would arrive. But i waited past those 6 minutes.. and nothing was there. . .

So i looked at the schedule fastened to a nearby pole and it said.. that the next bus would arrive at 7(??)

I furiously waved the WTF-flag but rejoiced when i saw where the bus was headed; Directly to Oslo!

So now, instead of having to take two buses i just need to take the one. Huzzah!  This effectively shaves about 15 minutes off my old travel time, if not more.

This new route doesn’t stop at as many places and takes the new road into Oslo, which is quicker.

Good news for the new year i suppose.
